Your caring hands-on physical therapy team in Yadkinville
Deborah Snyder, PT, DPT, LMBT
Jim and I opened YPT in 2006. We started out in a small office at the YMCA and in 2016 moved into our new building with 3,000 sq. ft. of space. I graduated from East Carolina University in 1994 with a BSc in physical therapy and graduated with a certificate in massage therapy in 2002, which added a good deal to my manual therapy skill set. In August 2018, I earned my DPT and a certificate in executive practice management. I taught in the massage therapy program at Forsyth Technical Community College for five years and currently guest lecture for the PTA program at Surry Community College yearly.
My husband and I love to travel and are amateur photographers, as you will see when you visit our clinic. The walls are covered with pictures from our travels to Japan, Chile, Patagonia, Atacama, Bolivia, New York and other places. I love what I do because physical therapy made such an impact in my life and I want to be a part of that life-changing experience for others. I want to help people live their lives the way they choose to instead of settling for the cards they feel they have been dealt. My heart hurts to see people in pain and I will do everything I can to help bring them out of that and improve their quality of life in an environment filled with fun and laughter.
I have been at YPT since 2007 when I joined Debbie once the business got too busy for her to handle herself. I handle office manager duties and insurance issues. My education includes a BSc in wood science and technology and a master’s degree in wood science and technology in 1993. I earned both degrees from NC State. Although my education is not in insurance/office manager tasks, I have gained a wonderful education on the job and have learned by doing.
As the business has grown, we have taken many continuing education courses to gain more knowledge about running a business. My personal interests lie in photography, woodworking, cars and travel. I have several old cars that I like to work on (1965 Mustang, ’60s Falcons, ’90s Lincolns). I love what I do because I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know our patients. I think it is important to help them make sense of their insurance issues so they can spend their time focusing on getting better.
Matthew Cain, PTA
I have been with YPT since July of 2013 and worked four years as a tech while going through school. Then I was hired as a PTA in May 2018 after graduating from PTA school. I also have an Associate in Arts from Surry Community College, a Bachelor of Science in kinesiology with a concentration in sports medicine from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and an Associate in Applied Science as a physical therapist assistant.
I love what I do because it’s so rewarding. There are only a few jobs out there that allow you to make a physical difference in someone’s life and I have one of them. Whether it’s giving people back their mobility, strength or their overall abilities to perform certain tasks, I’m the one who gets to help them achieve that and track their progress – which makes my job so fulfilling. I love spending my free time with my family, friends and fiance. I’m a big movie buff, and basketball and baseball were my sports growing up, but golf is my biggest hobby.
I have been with Yadkin Physical Therapy since November of 2017. Before coming here, I worked for Yadkin County Schools as a teacher assistant and the Assistant Director for the Out of School Time Program for seven years. Prior to that, I worked for Wake Forest Baptist Health’s Department of Neurology for 10 years. I have two wonderful children, Brendan and Krista. I love spending time with my family. I like to be outside and work in my yard and I like to decorate. I like to go to the mountains and the beach. I love working at Yadkin Physical Therapy because I get to meet new people each and every day and I learn something new every day. I love the patients and the staff. The staff are very caring not only about the patients but about each other, and they are fantastic to work with.
Jeanie Rhyne, PT
I have been with YPT since 2012. I attended Auburn University and earned degrees in psychology and zoology with a minor in sociology. I then attended University of South Alabama, where I earned my degree in physical therapy. My experience in acute care includes supervising the acute care staff at the University of Alabama, I worked at Methodist Medical Center in Birmingham, followed by years of nursing home care in North Carolina. I have attended multiple courses, from geriatric orthopedics to kinesiotaping techniques and several other general orthopedic courses. I enjoy working at YPT due to the interesting variety of clients and the great staff. My interest include outdoor activities, gardening, yard work, horseback riding, reading, antiquing and a variety of needlework projects.
Julie Layell, PT Tech
I have been here since 2016. I am currently attending Surry Community College to obtain my physical therapist assistant degree in May 2020. I enjoy barrel racing, I live on a farm, and I am currently engaged. I enjoy physical therapy because you get to know the patients and you are able to help them reach their personal goals. At Yadkin Physical Therapy, we cater to the various needs of each patient.
Robert Clifton, PTA
I have been an employee of YPT since 2012 as a physical therapy assistant. I graduated from Surry Community College with an associate’s degree. My hobbies involve my family, wife and two kids, Olive and Gauge, hunting, fishing and automotive repair. I like working for YPT because of the laid-back atmosphere, and I enjoy having the freedom to treat with PTs who supervise but don’t dictate my every move. We have a lot of fun here at YPT, and I think that makes the therapy more enjoyable for our patients!
Avery Ravit, PT Tech
I’ve been with YPT since January of 2019. Though I first arrived as a patient trying to get back to normal. I was diagnosed with a synovial sarcoma in July of 2018. I really enjoyed my therapy and found it interesting enough I was given the opportunity to learn the various components of physical therapy. I plan to use this experience to further my education. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, I also enjoy playing golf. I’m originally from Yadkinville and attended Forbush. I like working at YPT because it’s more than just therapy, we love to get to know people and we love to help people get better.
Jacob Matthews, PT Tech
I starting working at YPT as a technician in December of 2018. I am currently enrolled at Surry Community College taking classes to get into the physical therapist assistant program. My hobbies include doing anything outdoors, hanging out with family and friends, going to the gym, and I am a huge UNC fan. I first knew that I wanted to work in the physical therapy field when I first started my therapy at YPT. I fell in love with the great atmosphere and people. Being able to help anyone on a daily basis is always enjoyable.
