Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How can physical therapy help me?
A: Physical therapy strives to help individuals develop, maintain and restore maximum movement and functional ability throughout life. Physical therapists specialize in helping people whose movement and function are threatened by aging, injury, disease or environmental factors. We also make sure that you have a variety of strategies to help you keep your symptoms gone once you have completed your therapy.
Q: Are your therapists licensed?
A: All therapists at Yadkin Physical Therapy are licensed by the North Carolina Board of Physical Therapy. All therapists renew their license yearly.
Q: How do I get started with physical therapy?
A: Contact our office at 336-677-1800 to schedule your first physical therapy visit. In order to avoid conflict with any other appointments, please have your calendar handy when scheduling your first visit. Also have your insurance card available in order to provide necessary information for verification of insurance benefits. Our qualified staff will answer all your questions and help you get started.
Q: Do I need a doctor’s prescription?
A: Most insurance plans no longer require a physician prescription for physical therapy, although a prescription is still required for those patients with Medicare as their primary insurance. The staff scheduling your appointment will tell you if a prescription is required and help with obtaining the necessary paperwork.
Q: Does my insurance pay for my therapy?
A: Yadkin Physical Therapy contracts with most major insurance providers. Prior to your first therapy appointment, our qualified staff verifies your insurance benefits and reviews them with you so there are no surprises regarding your cost for therapy. Most insurance plans require you to make a “copayment” at each visit.
Q: If I am injured on the job, will my Workers’ Compensation insurance cover treatment at Yadkin Physical Therapy?
A: Yes. Yadkin Physical Therapy contracts with many Workers’ Compensation insurance plans. We will first need authorization from your Workers’ Compensation insurance before beginning treatment. After receiving authorization, we can get you scheduled to start therapy with the number of visits authorized.
Q: Where are you located?
A: Yadkin Physical Therapy is located at 102 Woodlyn Drive, Yadkinville, NC 27055. Our office is off Service Road. We are the second building on the right (next to Dorsett Technologies).
Q: What are business hours?
A: Yadkin Physical Therapy is open from 8:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
Q: How soon can I get in for an appointment?
A: At Yadkin Physical Therapy, we strive to offer appointments within 24 to 48 hours. Often we can get you in the same day if your schedule allows. If you have a very specific time/day you need for your appointments, please be aware that your appointment may need to be outside of our preferred 24- 48-hour window in order to meet your specific request.
Q: How long will my appointment last?
A: Your first therapy visit will last one hour with your therapist and you will want to budget 15 minutes in addition to that for making appointments for future visits. Visits after your evaluation will last anywhere from 45 to 60 minutes.
Q: What should I wear to my therapy appointments?
A: Please wear clothing that is comfortable. If we will be assessing your lower extremity, please wear pants with loose legs or shorts. If we are assessing your shoulder, please wear a tank top so we can access the shoulder area.
Q: How long will I be in therapy overall?
A: Duration of treatment varies from patient to patient and also varies due to diagnosis. Most often patients are seen from four to six weeks with some surgical patients (for example, rotator cuff tear, ACL repairs) require therapy for up to three months.
Q: Do you treat patients who have had strokes?
A: Yes. We treat a variety of diagnoses with patient ages ranging from 18 months to 90s and older.
Q: Do you have a cancellation policy?
A: Due to past experience with excessive cancellations, Yadkin Physical Therapy has adopted the following policy: If you know that you will need to cancel your appointment, please provide us with 24 hours’ notice. Our staff will make every effort to help you reschedule your appointment so you can continue to progress toward your therapy goals. Notice of less than 24 hours or not keeping your appointment will result in a $35 late-cancel/no-show fee. This fee is expected to be paid prior to the start of your next visit.
